In a world of whipped instant coffee, be a vanilla lavender latte…
Kidding aside, this simple syrup is so easy to make and has so many recipe options. Add to coffee or tea, pour over vanilla ice cream, or add to sparkling water and vodka for a fun summer cocktail!
Ok first things first, the lavender essential oil you use REALLY MATTERS. You need to use an essential oil that is labeled as safe for consumption. I use Young Living’s + line (or vitality line if you’re in the United States). Young Living’s oils are the highest standard of quality without any chemical touching them in any process of the seed to seal process, very few other companies can say that. Please don’t ingest oils where you don’t know if they are safe for consumption, that’s dangerous. Ok disclaimer over…
Directions
To make it you need equal parts water and sugar. Heat the water and sugar together on the stove until all the sugar has dissolved. Removed from heat and add 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil for every cup of water you added. Stir well, then add 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Stir and cool. Then pour into a GLASS container and voila!
To make a latte add a tablespoon or two to your latte or tea and stir to mix. Top with your favourite foamed milk and enjoy!
